Embracing Fall
I know that many people (especially if you’re into the woo woo) are all about the Fall season. They love the dark, cozy, golden-leafed aesthetic. There is a major love for all things pumpkin-shaped, pumpkin-spiced, and pumpkin-scented.
Don’t let me get started on Halloween. Spooky decorations and costumes are already in the works.
Fall is pretty much the most magical of all seasons. And I sort of much hate it.
If I were a Witch, I’d be a Sun Witch. I love a sunny day and warm weather and all the light and vibrant colors that come with a sunny day. I also love long days. I am not at all a fan of the darker seasons - which is interesting, given that I’m a winter baby. Maybe it’’s because I am from Southern California. Los Angeles doesn’t get much of a major season change - the weather is a little cooler but that’s about it.
Also, I prefer Sweet Potatoes to Pumpkin so I’m not really a fan of all the lattes and candle scents associated with the squash.
I am also not a huge fan of scary Halloween. I like the cutesy-poo, Hocus Pocus-style, fun-loving Halloween - but that’s about it. So I find it hard to relate to all my friends who have already decorated their homes with spiders and cauldrons and are ready to put on their most Elvira-esque velvet gowns and saunter about town wearing their faux vampire teeth.
(Though, I do love the Powerful energy that resonates from a Halloween Queen.)
All that being said, I find that I am always imbalanced when Fall rolls around and it seems to take me half the season to acclimate to the environmental changes.
It is time for me to prepare for and embrace this season. I need to stop all my complaining and focus on all the good. I love change but fail to recognize it because I get stuck worrying about things that don’t really matter.
As I continue on my journey of becoming a more holistic human, embracing all the things about life that are magical, accepting the changing of the seasons is a major step in the right direction.
“Notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature.”
Fall really is a season of magic and it definitely feels more soulful than any other season.
As I work to accept this change and grow in my connection to Mama Earth and nature, I think working harder to embrace the Fall through specific actions will be key.
In addition to journaling and shadow work, here are some ways in which I’m working to embrace this season of harvest and short days in both my business and personal life.
